Recovery From Tik Addiction in Cape Town – 10 Days Clean

EFT Reiki Trainer and Master South Africa

This is one in a series of articles about the recovery of Yasmin from Tik addiction (crystal meth is known as Tik in Cape Town) using mainly EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT is an energy healing method that involves the stimulation of special acupressure points whilst repeating releasing phrases and is suitable for anyone who does not have schizophrenia or psychosis. With gratitude to Yasmin, this article aims to educate and inform addicts and those who work with them about the possibilities with this simple, affordable, and powerful new method.

Yasmin has been clean for 10 consecutive days now. She has had a craving one day in the past week, but it did go. She attended her ninth session with her homework sheet filled in with feelings that she had tapped on, proud to announce her continuing success. Since most of these involved a recently broken relationship, we started there. I asked her to think of the person whilst I felt her aura. It felt very disrupted at the heart chakra, and she nodded emphatically when I shared that knowledge. I asked for a number out of ten for missing this person, and she said a 10. Within a few minutes of tapping, we got it down to 2 and then a zero.

We tapped on the following aspects:

This person is very popular, and Yasmin missed being the girlfriend of such a popular person.
There is an edginess or excitability about the wrong sort of love partner, like being on a roller-coaster, and Yasmin kind of missed this.
This person had the same energy as her father, an abusive energy, and so it can be attractive to be with someone similar as a love partner.
This person showered Yasmin with attention, and she needed that ego boost.
Yasmin then started interjecting with statements that showed a changing point of view; a cognitive shift. This included things like the following.
She has a gift of healing, and she was sharing her plans and hopes to learn Reiki.
She allowed the love of God and had God on her side, so she was more important than this popular person anyway now.
She was looking forward to further positive changes in her life.

We also tapped for some family discord. At the end of the session, I felt her heart chakra again, and it was calm. Yasmin told me just before she left that she was eating more than she wanted to now without the Tik. There was no time to explain in detail, but I showed her briefly how to tap for it. She was surprised the same technique can work for overeating. We will work on that next time, as overeating can push some young women into drug-taking in order to control their appetite.

The next appointment is one day before Yasmin next gets money, in order to ensure that she does not spend it on Tik. She has done brilliantly so far, and I look forward to our next session.
