eft to get rid of food cravings a cape town eft success story
I love the way that EFT tapping puts you in charge of food cravings. In that way, it truly turns the tables on the craving that used to control you, and you get in the driving seat of your appetite. If EFT is unfamiliar to you as yet, it stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques, and it involves tapping with two fingers on special cravings acupressure points whilst tuning into the craving. EFT has been scientifically proven to reduce food cravings, and so despite how strange it may look, it works.
The really nice thing about using EFT is that it is easy and does not involve a battle of willpower. Let me illustrate, and then you can have a better idea what it is like. “Liesl” came to see me for weight loss. I asked her to bring with her some naughty foods that she normally finds hard to resist. Liesl obliged with a huge slab of chocolate and a bag of chewy sweets. As instructed, Liesl made sure not to skip a meal before seeing me, as the EFT works best when we are not literally starving hungry. At the beginning of the session, she was nervous, not knowing quite what to expect. But it was actually very easy; and it took only 15 minutes for her to be released from these cravings.
We started by working on the sweets, which were her favourites. I asked her to rate on a scale from 10 to 0 what number sweets desire she had. This was an 8, and we started tapping statements beginning with Setups such as the following. “Even though I have this sweets desire, I accept myself anyway”. “Even though they are my favourites, I accept myself anyway”. “Even though I don”t want to deprive myself of this treat, I accept myself anyway”.
The sweets desire went from an 8 to a 2 and then settled at a zero. I asked Liesl then to open the packet and smell them, to test that the craving was truly gone. She did and it was. What a great empowerment that was!
Next, we moved onto the chocolate. Judging by Lisel”s surprised face when she looked at it again, I could tell that the work on the sweets had crossed over to the chocolate. This does happen sometimes, although not always, and it is great when it does. The desire started at a 1 out of 10, which within minutes became a zero.
Liesl took away with her a simple homework that she can do should any food craving present itself. I love this empowering tapping!
